CAS Gift Monster 42nd St Ballon

March 2009

Here I am! I never imagined a character I developed would ever stand 80 feet high in NYC Times Square 42nd Street. This is more then a dream come true, because I never dreamed this big. Thank you Pepsi and all the wonderful people at Tracy Locke agency for letting me be part of a fantastic idea.

Here is one of the many write ups on this event.

New York's outdoor ad hub is getting even more spectacular, thanks to a 60-foot transformer-style monster that's promoting Pepsi during the lead-up to the Super Bowl.
The inflatable display hovered over Manhattan Times square 42nd Street will travel to Phoenix. There, the creature will hover menacingly outside the University of Phoenix stadium.

The futuristic "monster" was designed by Steve Vializ, CAS. The Ballon was made by Zoom Media and Marketing is promoting Pepsi's music giveaway on Amazon.com, in conjunction with a number of "sightings" and "attacks" around New York--in other words, mini-giveaways staged by Pepsi around the city over the weekend. Once it departs, there will be a "clean-up" involving more giveaways. Super Bowl fans will also get freebies on Super Sunday.

As part of the promotion, 4 billion specially marked Pepsi packages allow consumers to collect points and redeem them online at Pepsistuff.com for free music. In addition to giant inflatable monsters, Pepsi has signed Justin Timberlake to appear in the campaign.

As part of the promotion, Pepsi is giving away 3.25 million songs via Amazon MP3, a new service that was introduced in September. Four billion Pepsi packages allow consumers to collect points and redeem them online for free music, MediaPost writes.

The gift monster will also appear in a commercial created by BBDO that will air in the days after the Super Bowl.
